Vidya Balan On The Indira Gandhi Web Series: 'Unfortunately No Updates, The Pandemic Has Just Slowed Things Down' - EXCLUSIVE
Vidya Balan talks about the web series on ex-PM Indira Gandhi and says things have slowed down. The series will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala.
It’s been more than three years since the Sherni actress Vidya Balan bought the rights to a book on Indira Gandhi. The actress had plans to turn the story into a web series, however, ever since the confirmation in April 2019, there have been no updates regarding the series. Addressing it, Vidya revealed that the series has been postponed due to the pandemic.
In her recent interaction with SpotboyE, Vidya said she would be happy to share any news on the series but unfortunately, there isn't any. She says, ' For now there are no updates on that, unfortunately! When there is I would happy to share but as of now, I think the pandemic has just slowed things down.' In an interview in 2019 the 42-year-old actress had opened about the process of making the series, she said, "There’s so much material when it comes to someone like Indiraji, and we are going through a lot of it." The series would be based on journalist Sagarika Ghose's book, Indira: India's Most Powerful Prime Minister and will feature the Emergency, Indira's failed marriage, and her personal life. Meanwhile, Vidya’s latest outing Sherni released today on Amazon Prime Videos. The film will see the actress playing an upright forest officer battling social barriers set by the patriarchal society.
